In 1962, all 17,203 acres of Deltona were founded by the Mackle Brothers.
With a current population of 90,746 Deltona is the largest municipality within Volusia County. Deltona is located on the northern shore of Lake Monroe along the St. Johns River and is centrally located between Daytona Beach and Orlando, 30 miles to each, so it provides a large residential base for commuters to both cities with smaller, low maintenance and affordable houses. Interstate I-4 passes through Deltona making access to both cities easy. The City of Deltona boasts over 100 lakes within its boundaries comprising a total of over 8 square miles of water.
